Tonight at Masquerade: Pick a Room, Any Room… You Can’t Go Wrong

ATLANTA: Tonight at The Masquerade in the Old Fourth Ward are three shows you don’t want to miss. Unfortunately, you probably can’t be in three places at once. But whichever you choose, you will not be disappointed…

Upstairs in Heaven: After landing on our top 9 list last November and a spot on the Shaky Knees lineup in May, Dr. Dog returns to The Masquerade with Tedo Stone and You Me & Apollo.

Downstairs in Hell: The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band with Levi Lowrey and Lex Romweber Duo

In Purgatory: Leopold and His Fiction with Tyler Talks to Doors!

Atlanta, We’re Back… and We Invited Our Friends

Hello live music fans!

In August of 2012, Nine Local began as a resource for live music fans in Atlanta. This concept was not an original idea, but as a fan, I just couldn’t find a blog, magazine, mobile app or local source of information that satisfied my hunger for relevant and accurate live music discovery. So I decided to become that source. Read the first blog post for an introduction to Nine Local. After 9 months of recommending shows and a 5 month hiatus, I’m back to continue my pursuit of finding or becoming every fan’s source for live music discovery.

As far as existing mobile apps go, I’ve moved away from JamBase and started using Timbre on a daily basis. Both are good for finding shows in your city, but both could use some improvements (blog post to follow regarding my thoughts on that).

During my time away from active blogging, I decided to incorporate more than just live music. With the help of guest bloggers and a community of local influencers, Nine Local will begin sharing other exciting things going on in the Atlanta area (details to follow).

I hope you’ll join us in sharing what you enjoy about our great city. But most of all, I hope you’ll continue supporting live music!

See you at the show,

Reagan (@reaganhines)

May Shows in Atlanta, #1-9 (with a Spotify Playlist)

As I mentioned earlier this week, I’m moving to Nashville!  But that doesn’t mean @NineLocal will not continue recommending shows in Atlanta.  I’ll be doing it myself or have someone help me, but for the month of May, there will not be individual posts for the top 9 shows.  This list, however, is the top 9 shows to see in May.  So get out there and support live music!

Update: As of 10/1/2013, I’m officially back in Atlanta. Nashville is amazing, but my “day job” brought me back home.

#1:  Shaky Knees Festival at Masquerade Music Park – 5/4 & 5/5

(This lineup is stacked!  Don’t miss live sets from Gary Clark Jr., Vintage Trouble and Shovels & Rope)

#2:  The Black Keys at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakedwood – 5/2

#3:  Ryan Bingham and The Wild Feathers at Center Stage – 5/18

#4:  Meshell Ndegeocello at Piedmont Park (Atlanta Jazz Festival) – 5/25

#5:  Rodriguez at Variety Playhouse – 5/11

#6:  Alan Evans Trio at Smith’s Olde Bar – 5/1
